Baby - It's Cold Outside {Broccoli Cheese Soup}

{Ooh, baby - it's cold outside . . .  or at least it was. :p }

I love cold weather! But then I'm not sure why I'm saying this because I typically stay inside when it's freezing outside.

Maybe I love the atmosphere it encourages. Or the warm fire that invites to sit close and stay. Could it be that I'm just . . . obsessed w/ cute hats and scarves????? Very possible.

The one thing that I do love about frigid air (and there is absolutely no doubt about this one!) is how it really clears your lunges and makes you feel all clean inside. You know what I mean? It's like you take a deep breath and your whole body wakes up!

Ok, so I'd planned to post this pic a long time ago but this week has been slightly unusual so you're getting it now. : p

Minus a few projects and things I had to get done - Saturday was chill day after a work week and these muffins where on the menu. {Should I mention they're made with blueberries picked from last summer??? Can't believe they made it this long!}

Homemade broccoli / cheese soup is so perfect for a chilly evening dinner! I promised - I'll do a recipe share on this for ya!!! Totally amazing.

Last Sunday I went to the early service at church and hands down heard the best sermon ever. Or maybe it was just really timely for me? Any guesses at to the topic?!

So, anyways - after church was a huge big brunch like meal, with the idea to knock two meals on in one! I think warm french toast drizzled with sweet maple syrup is such a great wintry breakfast, don't you? :)

Truth revealed! The title of the post was really inspired by the heater deciding to break over the weekend. No more complaining about it being cold! I was SO thankful when the nice little repair man came for a visit. :p

I love fuzzy socks and big, heavy blankets so it was kinda fun while it lasted! {Of course, I'm saying this as I sit in a nice warm room . . . lol!}

Monday night's dinner! This was wild salmon on a fresh bed of greens. Whenever I get fish it's like, aah *happy dance time*. Here's an article as to why it's a good idea to eat wild fish over farmed (hint: mercury).

There are other great ways to get in omega 3s such as adding hemp seeds to your green smoothie. :)

Piano festival/master classes started Monday evening. Basically, it's like a public music/history/theory lesson with everyone in the room participating so it's super fun and interactive! Have any of my readers ever done music camps or competitions? :)

I think yesterday's master class was my favorite so far! {it's a wk long event} Dr. Scott Marasek was amazing and i felt like I left with a lot I could apply, and actually understood. :p It's such an interesting experience! I'm also getting to hang out with one of my super sweet friends who's going to be a world class pianist-- not kidding you. Click here to listen to her play! Nightmare's

Anyways - this was supper! I was so ready to eat by the time I got home and something light and refreshing was what I was up for. :) How 'bout you - what are your eats of late looking like?

Cookies! A fellow student and I teamed up to make some refreshments for tonight's performance at --U Auditorium (message me if you want time & location!). Students go first and then 2nd half of the program is w/ international pianist Jesse Davis and Ukranian-born violinist Olesya Dashkeyvich. :)

How's the wk been so far for you? :-)

Do you like cookies? {Who doesn't?!}

Remember - Fresh Friday is tomorrow!!!

Oh, that cookie dough looks so, so, so good! I can pass up cookies all week long but mix up a batch of cookie dough and I'm doomed! Unfortunately, that means my family doesn't get fresh baked cookies very often. :/
Wanted to say thank you so much for stopping by to visit and commenting on my blog! I appreciate it! :)
